The Bitch

General:

After several years, I have started reading fiction again. I went to the book store, picked up three books. One among them was The Bitch.

Someone recommended the author Jackie Collins at the book store. The book cover had a bitch posing, laying down with noticeable cosmetics. I turned the cover page. Right on the first page, there were several testimonials printed.

  • "JACKIE COLLINS IS A BIGGER NAME IN SOME WAYS THAN MOST ENTERTAINERS THESE DAYS....A STAR INDEED!"
    --The New York Daily News
  • "JACKIE COLLINS CAPTURES THE LIFE-STYLES OF THE RICH AND INFAMOUS WITH DEVASTATING ACCURACY...."
    --Los Angeles Times

After reading the first two reviews, I decided to give it a try.

The book was engaging. After finishing work at 02:00 AM, I started reading the book. I read the entire book in three sessions since the book was relatively short, about 250 pages. Jackie Collins is similar to Jack Higgins when it comes to fast paced novels. Did I tell you I prefer fat books over 500 pages?

If you are a reader, looking to start reading again after a long break, The Bitch is indeed a good pick. Like the reviews stated above, Jackie Collins' narrates the stories of the rich, famous and infamous. The narration style is informal.

Randy conversations are abundant. Scenes of The Bitch getting laid is common. Casino, poker, diamond, scams amounting to hundreds of thousands of dollars, put Nico, the lead male character in the novel into deep shit. He eventually meets The Bitch and tries to use her.

I Won't tell you more about the story. Revealing the story in advance tears away all the thrill. Ask Matthew Prichard.

I enjoyed reading the book. It was definitely a good break. I will sure read more books by Jackie Collins.

A movie is also made based on the novel.
